Last Thursday’s Carnegie Hall program was a truly special evening of music-making, with Robert Spano leading the Orchestra of St. Luke’s in a particularly devotional program of Bach’s Magnificat and Messiaen’s Trois petites liturgies de la Présence Divine. For those of you that don’t know this rarely performed Messiaen, please do yourself a favor and fire up your Spotify account.

For my first review, I take a look at Daniel Harding’s thrilling account of Mahler’s Tenth Symphony with the New York Philharmonic this week at Avery Fisher Hall.
