Robert Spano Leads the Orchestra of St. Luke's

Uli Seit for the New York Times

Last Thursday’s Carnegie Hall program was a truly special evening of music-making, with Robert Spano leading the Orchestra of St. Luke’s in a particularly devotional program of Bach’s Magnificat and Messiaen’s Trois petites liturgies de la Présence Divine. For those of you that don’t know this rarely performed Messiaen, please do yourself a favor and fire up your Spotify account.

My account of the evening can be read over at Feast of Music.

Daniel Harding and the Tenth Symphony of Mahler

Hiroko Masuike for the New York Times

I am pleased to announce my latest gig as classical concert reviewer for Feast of Music, a wonderful site covering the wide array of musical offerings here in New York City. For my first review, I take a look at Daniel Harding’s thrilling account of Mahler’s Tenth Symphony with the New York Philharmonic this week at Avery Fisher Hall.
